Rain and wind dominated the last day of this year’s Summer Grand Prix. But this did not spoil the good mood of the fans who stayed in the Vogtland Arena, even though the trial round was cancelled and the final competition postponed to 17.00 CET due to the bad weather conditions.
In the end, the competition was decided after one round: Slovenian Anze Lanisek won with a jump of 139.5 metres and a total of 137.6 points. He was followed by Norwegian Marius Lindvik who set a new summer hill record with a distance of 148.0 metres (136.6pts). Polish athlete Piotr Zyla stepped on the third step of the podium (135.0m, 135.6pts). Best Japanese became Ryoyu Kobayashi on the fourth position.
His teammate Yukiya Sato, who had the chance to win the overall ranking of the Summer Grand Prix, finished the competition as 11th (127.0m, 120.2pts). Since Dawid Kubacki could score a better result as sixth (131.5m, 131.5pts), the young Japanese fell back on the second place in the overall ranking with a total of 294 points. Kubacki became the winner with 305 points while Timi Zajc ended the summer as the third (268pts).
The Japanese team clearly won the Nations Cup Standing with a total of 2185 points in front of Poland (1950pts) and Slovenia (1427pts).
